A chain of events caused the entire Arctic region to melt, leading to global tsunamis and a 250-foot rise in sea level, putting 70% of the world’s population underwater. Along with the mass drownings, which caused worldwide anger, confusion, and fear, what was left of the population started looting and rioting in the streets, preparing to protect themselves against the next natural disaster and the inevitable economic collapse.

Joyce Wilter and her parents lived off the coast of San Diego when the tsunami hit, and her brother was killed in a riot the next day. Joyce’s grieving parents gathered the remaining community leaders and held a peace rally in his memory, giving a heartfelt speech about the equality of all humankind. A video of this rally went viral and became the symbol of rebuilding the new world peacefully. Growing up, Joyce — and the 20% of the population that remained — would never forget the lessons of treating all other humans equally, especially in times of adversity.

Joyce’s parents went on to plant a community garden to help rebuild the agriculture that was lost in the flooding; after seeing her parents work closely with the local business owners and other community members to bring about positive change, Joyce now connects strongly with strong business owners because they are the foundation of society. Joyce's story is one that transcends monotonous thinking as the mentality and approach to society varies as various caracters that she interacts with travel through generations understanding about what "reality" and the "social norms" truly are.
