OUR WORLD

2066

People, Places and Things

By US, fOr Us, and About US ALL.

TOGETHER, BUT NOT THE SAME:

LIFE AFTER THE DISASTER

Long ago, around 2016, we as a human population finally used all of the resources that were given to us by planet earth. As a result, ice caps melted and the flood changed us forever.  After what we now refer to as The Disaster, there was not enough of anything left that could be distributed equally across the world. Product that existed drove up in price and almost exclusively exised for the one percent; those, in first world countries, able to afford inflation.

This model proved unsustainable.

Taking lessons from what failed in the past, we have come together on a national and global level to drive positive change allowing us to generate new resources and share what we have in order to avoid such a catastrophe from ever occurring in the future.

We are a new society and culture of peace and community effort. We focus on people as parts of a whole rather than as individuals, and we replace the idea of meritocracy with the idea that helping others is the best thing that you can do as a person. Difference is recognized- not erased- but we prize the goals of the collective over those of the individual. Gone is the societal restriction of gender and race as we transcend and gain knowledge from our past mistakes and selfish experiences. Joyce's neice and Mateo, Susan's child, go to grade school together. They are currently in a film class during which they see screened films.

Joyce's parents and  Sam Shah worked together on the very first community garden since The Disaster.

The physical layout and design of the first plant-based community farming model was conceptualized during a business partnership between Sam Shah and Paloma Shepard.

When Jon, Paloma's husband, went to  Denver, the World's Capitol, on a business trip, he met Senator Martinez who mentioned his fondness of Paloma's work for the world.

Mutual ideologies led to partnerships regarding legislating  humane  treatment and use of animals in the world and in food items.
